Joshua Nelson Sounds Like Mahalia Jackson
The 22nd Annual Mother’s Day Weekend Celebration took place on Saturday, May 8th at Third Baptist Church, 1399 McAllister Street, San Francisco, Rev. Brown, Pastor and on Sunday, May 9th at Park’s Chapel, 476 34th Street, Oakland, Rev. Nelson, Pastor.
Joshua Nelson was received with great enthusiasm by a diverse crowd.
Nelson, who is African-American and Jewish performed extraordinarily throughout both concerts, performing songs of Mahalia Jackson.
The program began with Earl Bullen’s Praise Team, followed by Pop Hudson & The Chosen Ones preceded by the San Francisco Bay Area based gospel ensemble known as the Ambassadors of Gospel, the Internationally and critically acclaimed Gospel Elites.
Radio Announcer and Gospel Elites founder Emmit Powell said, “Listening to Joshua Nelson is like sitting at the feet of Mahalia Jackson.”
