  2. I am deeply moved by the program of songs and spoken word about slavery and freedom this morning on KPFA between 6 and 8 AM. I would very much like to have a CD or recorded copy of this program, but it was not listed on today’s archives and I did not hear the name of the program or its fine singer/artists. My husband, actor Bill Robinson, was on stage in Harlem many times with Paul Robeson during the turbulent 40s and 50s when Robeson was in the forefront of the struggle against repression and witch-hunting — and for world peace and justice. Bill Robinson died at 50. Our daughter Vicki Sue Robinson became a fine singer and theatrical performer. Her last performance was in a one-woman show off-Broadway, “Behind the Beat,” in 1999. She left this world at 46 after a 3.5-year struggle with cancer. Hearing the inspiring program this morning was a soul-stirring epiphany that brought back so much of my life, so many memories.
